A snapshot rather than a CV: what has my attention this month. It goes stale on purpose, and I rewrite it when it stops being true.

Building

This site, which is hand-written HTML with no framework, no build step worth the name, and nothing loaded from anyone else’s server. Recently: packing GPT-2’s vocabulary from 1.4 MB down to 462 KB by noticing that its merge table is almost entirely derivable from the order of the vocabulary itself, and drawing the book covers on the interests page as pixel art on a 64×90 grid, because a cover scaled from something larger stops looking like a cover.

An editor that lets me fix a sentence on the rendered page and writes it back into the source, which exists because a fourteen-thousand-word essay is two thousand lines of file and only forty-seven of them are prose.
